The actor portraying Mukesh Mehra is ARJUN RAMPAL. Not John Abraham, lol. And you're right, he's pretty vicious and horrifying in this movie, Arjun really portrayed his role brilliantly. He was perfect. Brilliant acting from Arjun and definitely from Deepika too.

I think the fact that Shanti wasn't reborn like Om was is because Om was brought back into the world as Om Kapoor, the son of Rajesh Kapoor so that he could retell Shanti's story and tell the world what really happened to her.

I think it was so that he coud give her the justice that she sought since he was the only one who witnessed the atrocity that Mukesh did to her. Even in the movie, Om refers to his rebirth as a divine intervention and that someone up there is writing this story with a purpose. So I think Om was brought back into the world one more time to tell Shanti's story and to give her the justice that she deserved and couldn't get.

Fate and destiny kept reminding him of the past so that he would remember everything and bring Shanti's murderer to justice. But Sandy was basically just a reincarnation of Shanti Priya but she was basically just a girl who resembled Shanti Priya. She wasn't Shanti Priya reborn.
