IPL: Indian cricketers angry with income

The IPL governing council has decided not entertain any change in the base amounts for the players, which is $200,000 despite speculation that a revolt is brewing among the Indian players. Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and Rahul Dravid have nothing to worry about, as they won't be part of the 'fish market' on Wednesday since they are icon players who have to play for their respective cities.

| overrated? Outside the Indian subcontinent it is totally dead. Even so, why shouldn't the players make big money? Happens in every other popular sport. I'm a huge Houston rockets fan and even our bench players make more than some leading international cricketers. |

But I must say, I do believe that our cricketers need to realize that a third of the world's poor live in India. I find it distasteful when they complain about their "low" salaries. |

As does the NFL and the NHL. But then again, I am just another deluded socialist with quite a dislike for capitalistic, right wing policies. |
